National Dawn Chorus Day:
Many thanks to Dr Matthew Jebb of the Botanic Gardens for permitting us entry to the gardens at 4.30 a.m. and greeting us at such an early time.

An especially big thank you to all 58 early risers who joined us for the Dawn Chorus at the Botanic Gardens in the early hours, to hear several Blackbirds compete for top billing at the open air concert on an unexpectedly dry and mild morning.   Dermot McCabe helped us to tune our ears to the variety of birdsong.  Species heard and seen:  Blackbird, Magpie, Robin, Wren, Goldcrest, Woodpigeon, Pheasant, Rooks, Jackdaws, Hooded Crow, Blue Tit, Mistle Thrush, Moorhen, Chaffinch, Long-tailed Tits and Great Tit.  Several bats or maybe just one bat seen several times were/was also see also circling the Gardens.RD
