Two Siskins and three Redpolls in the garden at Whitworth
Road. JH A new Black Redstart
feeding on white berries at the security fence around the ESB, Poolbeg
this morning. LB The Dun Laoghaire Black Red was

Reports of plenty of winter thrushes, Fieldfares and Redwings all over
Dublin and Wicklow. 12 Common Crossbills at Poulaphouca dam Blessington.
3 Woodcock in woods around the lake. 1 Snipe, 1 Water Rail, 8
Goldeneye. 1 Ravon
and about 20 Little Grebe also at the lake. PC

One Golden-eye
seen from the Wooden Bridge, Bull Island. 8 Mergansers
were also present at the bridge yesterday morning. Great Northern Diver
at Howth Harbour. JF Over 1000 Brent and one Dark-Bellied Brent
at Malahide Castle Golf Course. 150 Oyster Catchers with the
flock.NH Meanwhile 700 Brent at Tymon Park with more Oystercatchers and
Redshank among them, FD

On the canal at Inchicore 20-30 Redwing, large flock of finches (approx 50 -60) mainly of Goldfinch and Linnet
but also a few Greenfinch and Chaffinch and a lone female Bullfinch, 2 Kestrel and 2
Snipe, Little Egret also along the canal. IS Four Redwing in the Heather's garden in Howth today. HQ 5 more
Redwing in St Annes park while a Little Egret was seen under the trees
foraging like a chicken!. MH

14 Tolka members participated in a fun
"roving records " outing as part of 6 teams covering 10km square
tetrads in County Meath today. Many thanks to Brian Caffrey ,
Birdwatch Ireland for getting up at 4.30am to facilitate the outing and to
Sean Kingston for rounding up the troups. Up to
17 new species were added to tetrad lists in Meath including Raven,
Yellowhammer and Golden Plover. Thanks to all for participating in this
very well worthwhile event. We hope to organise more in the future.

28 Great Northern Divers and 6 Red-throated Divers between Balbriggan
and Bremore Point today. AK
Tolka Branch members were out in force today at the iWebs count on the
North Bull. Thousands of Waders, Ducks (Pintail, Shoveler, Wigeon, Teal,
Shelduck, Mallard) and Brent Geese - be sure to visit on an incoming tide
to increase your chances of good bird viewing.
