Three Swifts were moving through north over Lower Lesson
Street this morning at 8:45 am. The real sign that summer is
coming!! MC

today whilst an Arctic Tern & 2 Great Skuas
flew North past Sorrento Point. NK

A male Eider was seen from Coliemore Harbour, day roosting
on Dalkey Island & also feeding in the sound during the
afternoon. It was not present again at low tide that
evening however. Some Sandwich Terns, Manx Shearwaters,
a pair of Ravens, two male Wheatears, several pairs
of Shelduck, two pairs of Oystercatchers &
several pairs of Herring Gulls also noted in the area. No
sign of any Common, Arctic or Roseate Terns back at the breeding
colony yet. NK & NTK

Rogerstown: 8 Blackcaps singing at Rogerstown today.
Picking up on the song is often the best way to locate Blackcaps
at this time of year as they tend to keep to cover. Also 2 Swallows,
3 Willow Warblers, 3 Stock Doves, 3 Buzzards,
a Kestrel and a Sparrowhawk.GF

Lucan: A long the grand canal way in Lucan this evening a
mixed bag of spring and winter migrants. The spring migrants
included 1 Swallow, 1 Sand Martin, numerous Willow
Warblers, Chiffchaff’s and Blackcaps. The
Winter migrants included 30 or so Redwing and about 20 Fieldfare.
Other birds of note were a Buzzard a few Reed Bunting
and Goldcrests were in good numbers also.IS
Baldoyle estuary: Black-tailed Godwit, flock circa 200
mixed with Redshank. Oystercatchers on Portmarnock
side.
Gulls: Greater Black-backed, Herring and Common
Gull. Brent Geese, circa 30; Shag; and Hooded
Crow.
Hole in the Wall beach: Turnstone; flock of Sandwich
Terns circa 30 near harbour. Gannet and Razorbills
between beach and Ireland's Eye.EMcC
Bull Island: Lots of Linnets, Reed Buntings, Skylarks,
2 Swallows and 2 Wheatears.EK

Two pairs of Hen Harrier (both males displaying), 2 Kestrels,
a Raven, a Reed Bunting, small numbers of Siskin
& Bullfinch and a Hare in Slieve Blooms;
M7 between Emo & Rathcoole: 3 separate Buzzards, a Kestrel
& a Sparrowhawk.AR
County Louth - Hermitage: 2 summer plumaged Black-throated
Divers showing well along with several Red-throated Diver,
6 Common Scoter, 15 Great Crested Grebe. 1 House
Martin and a group of 9 Whimbrel along shoreline;
Lurgangreen: 1 Canada Goose, 3 Greenland White-fronted
Geese with the Pink-foots and Greylags and 10 Pintail.
Large numbers of Tree Sparrow and Yellowhammer
present at Seabank;
Cruisetown Strand: 20 Sandwich Tern, 1 Little Stint,
Sanderling and 50 summer plumaged Golden Plover.
Also high count of 67 Stock Dove in field just off the
beach.Very High Count.BS

still present at Clonkeen Park, Deansgrange this afternoon
although elusive at times. Up to 12 migrating Redwing were
heard calling last night passing over Cabinteely. NTK
